Enter the Timex Ironman Race Trainer digital heart rate monitor watch, which gives elite athletes the performance tools they need to succeed. The Race Trainer's primary function is to monitor your average heart rate and tell you whether to boost your intensity or take it slower. However, the watch also offers several more sophisticated tools, including a 10-workout memory, a 50-lap chronograph that calculates your average heart rate per lap, and five interval timers with individual heart rate target zones. The tools combine to make serious training seriously easy. And thanks to the Race Trainer's wireless Data Xchanger USB, you can customize your HRM and watch settings, upload workouts directly to your PC, or use training and nutrition software powered by TrainingPeaks.

Quality Product ~ Reviews were spot-on September 6, 2010 Twins Fan First HRM - spent $95 on Amazon for Timex IM. Very pleased after 1 month of use. Accurate readout. Paying a bit extra is worth it for the interval feature other Timex models do not have. This is my favorite feature to this point. Nothing but good things to say!
Great except for one thing September 5, 2010 2008 CRNA (Ooltewah, TN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As all the reviews state, this watch/HR chest strap are superior to Polar's simply because you can do the battery replacement yourself. All the features are intuitive on the watch and it has a number of ways to monitor your workout sessions. The biggest drawback is the watch band. It is NOT replaceable. It doesn't have the pins on the top and bottom that are interchangeable with another band type. It is molded as one piece and if the strap wears out, your out a $80 plus watch. I really enjoyed using it for 1 yr and 8 months before the strap on one end broke. I am trying to see if replacing the watch band at Timex is worth it or not. They won't quote any prices so you have to send it in and see. I will update when I find out more.
This watch is glued together?????? August 22, 2010 Lincoln Griffith (High Point, NC) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This watch was purchased due to the ratings posted by other users. Certainly the features are great on this watch. Everything worked perfectly until after a few weeks.
First thing to go were the batteries in the monitor strap. The the rubber tore where the rubber strap connects to the hard plastic heart monitor sensor housing. This I repaired with athletic tape.
Then the rubber heart rate strap tears again. Athletic tape again. I don't have it on too tight because if I did it would be pretty uncomfortable.
Now the watch has completely fallen apart. There is a hard plastic shell that is placed over the watch face. It has a rubber piece that sits inside it and is designed to protect the face. Both have detached from the watch face and cannot, I repeat, cannot be reattached because the rubber piece has stretched out of shape? I think that the manufacturer used an inferior rubber cement that has simply given up its task. Now the watch strap is de-laminating.
Its amazes me that the key parts to this watch, the straps and protective face, are glued together!
For the price I don't expect Rolex Quality but I do expect a watch at this price to last more than a year. After all, how long has Timex been making watches? What, have they forgotten how to glue pieces together? We have been using plastic and rubber adhesives now for 60 years. I'd think by now they could get it right.
Thoroughly disappointing.
Awesome watch/hear rate monitor August 22, 2010 tkd I've had at least 4 polar hr monitors and they are pretty good regarding accuracy, but something always seems to go wrong with them. Either a seal breaks and water gets in, or the hr jumps from normal to 225 in an instant.....etc. This watch is awesome and picks up on the hr quickly and remains constant. It has all of the basics needed for tri training. Great for doing laps in the pool and keeping time. Chest strap comfortable. Very user friendly and a great value for the money! I hope this timex will keep on ticking for a long time. I love this thing.
Great for training purposes! July 27, 2010 Brown Coat by Nature This heart rate monitor has worked great for me while getting back into my Cardio/Weight training routine. I started getting back into my training routine without the monitor and sometimes felt like I might have been over doing it. The first day I used the monitor I realized I was right and was able to adjust my routine appropriately. The only complaint I have is that there are a lot of features to the watch so it was a little hard to get used to at first. To me this is a minor thing which did not take away from the functionality or worth of the monitor.
