5 out of 5 stars Great Ravioli Easy to Use   March 13, 2010
John C. (Wild West USA)
I almost did not buy this item based on numerous reviews. As suggested in one review, I watched the Peter Pasta video on You Tube and decided to give it a try-I love my Kitchen Aid Ravioli Maker! I had never made ravioli from scratch before. Excluding the time to make the filling, it took me about 30 minutes to make the dough and crank out 75 perfect little raviolis on my first attempt. I am sure it will be quicker the next time. Watch the video and do exactly what Peter Pasta does and it will work great.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed   January 24, 2010
T. A. Moss (California)
We waited with great anticipation for this product to arrive but was it worth the wait and cost, NO. A big fat disappointment. It is far more trouble than it is worth. Whatever you do, do not put in anything that isn't solid, butternut squash well what a disaster, filling oozing out all over the place. Better off with cookie cutters!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk   January 22, 2010
VinVee
I own a restaurant and I have been in the food business in some way or another for many years. I make many Italian foods by hand from scratch. I absolutely think that this item is JUNK. For the home cook it is absolutely the most difficult item I have ever seen. If I didn't wait so long to open the box, I would return it in a second. Shame on whoever decided to keep selling this item. Also keep in mind that it is not powered by your mixer. It only uses the mixer as a holder and you have to crank it by hand for it to work. It's so bad that it's almost funny.

1 out of 5 stars A shockingly bad gadget.   January 16, 2010
Caroline Jurney (San Francisco, Ca)
First and foremost, I will admit to not wanting to like this appliance. I am a fan of the Alton Brown philosophy against "unitaskers" in the kitchen. If I have to find space for a special gadget for every dish I make, how in the world will it all ever fit in my kitchen.

Never the less, I received this for Christmas along with the rest of the pasta making gear for the kitchen aid mixer and decided to give it an honest try.

The mixer and the rest of the pasta attachments are so far worth their weight in gold. Everything but this thing works like a dream- rollers and noodle cutters alike. I highly recommend them all. Buy every scrap of it except this.

This is worse than useless. I spent a lot of time making pasta dough to have it completely chewed up in to useless shapes by this piece of junk. I tried three different times with different techniques, and got maybe a dozen use-able ravioli's out of it. The rest of the dough was unusable as it had been mashed up with the fillings into humps of goo by this machine.

The dough tore, it didn't seal, it didn't fill the ravioli, this list of problems goes on and on. I tried like other reviewers to use different dough consistencies, tried wetting the inner surfaces, etc etc- nothing worked. Not only was it faster and less frustrating to salvage what was left of the dough and filling and make ravioli by hand- the ravioli turned out better. Which leaves me wondering what exactly the point of this thing is? It's not faster, nor easier, nor does it produce better results than doing it by hand. It fails on every single front. It's going in the trash.

1 out of 5 stars Not Up to Standard   May 9, 2009

This is the first kitchenaid product that I have purchased that is not up to standard. The price is absorbant and the operation is to say the least laboring. You would do better to buy Batali's wheel and cutter for less than $15.00 than to pay $149.00 for this item. I have the rest of the pasta attachments for the kitchenaid and they work fantastic. I would of sent this product back but they wanted and outrageous restocking fee.
